World Class Carver Michael Braun founder of Landing Zone Decoys is one of the countries fastest growing contemporary carvers. Michael's interest in waterfowling and decoy carving started at very young age. His father's talent for duck decoy carving helped inspire him to carve and draw well before he started grade school. Young Braun learned to pay close attention to his wildlife subjects, especially their detail, habitat and surroundings while accompanying his father and two older brothers on frequent hunting trips. His earliest carvings were completed in cork while working with his father Edward side by side. "As I grew as a carver I turned away from cork and move to a more traditional material ( northern cedar) and began painting with oils". Now more then 20 years later Michael's growth in carving has him producing some of the most beautiful wooden decoys in his field. Year after year Michael saw a demand and interest in a affordable custom made decoys. The demand for such a decoy helped Michael develop his new line of decoys.
